Yurii Olehovych Sierov is a Ukrainian researcher, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor, deputy head of research work of the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Biography

Education

1998 – 2003 – a student at the Department of Information Systems and networks, Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies , Lviv Polytechnic National University.

2003 – graduated with specialization “Intellectual systems of decision making” and got the Master's degree in Computer Sciences.

2003 – 2007 – a post-graduate student at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Professional Activities

2004 – 2010 – a lecturer at the Department of Information Systems and Networks at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

2010 – 2011 – the senior lecturer at the Department of “Information Systems and Networks”, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

2011 – 2013 – the senior lecturer at the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Since 2013 – associated professor at the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Since 2011 – deputy head on research work of the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Scientific activities

In 2010 he defended his candidate's thesis with the research work “The Methods and Resources for the Creating of the Effective Virtual Systems in Terms of Web-Platforms” of the specialty 01. 05. 03 “Mathematical and software support of computing machines and systems”.

The research supervisor: Doctor Technical Sciences, Professor Andrii Peleshchyshyn, the head of the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He was one of the young researchers who actualized the project “The Foundation and Organizational Activity of the Children’s Remote Center for Learning and Consulting in Lviv Region” for the grant cost from the President of Ukraine for the endowed youth (The executive order from December 14, 2005).

In 2018, the organizational committee of the 2nd round of the All-Ukrainian student research papers contest in the specialty "Information, Library and Archives" among the students of the higher educational institutions with the III-IV accreditation levels of Ukraine recognized Roksoliana Kravtsiv's (student of the group DKIB-11) scientific work, supervised by Yu.O. Sierov, as one of the best among submitted works from all over Ukraine. R. Kravtsiv was awarded a diploma of the II degree, and associate professor Yu.O. Sierov was awarded a personal gratitude for the excellent training of the winner.

Qualification Skills

In 2006 attended the Microsoft Certification Program (MCP) courses: «Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment». In 2007 passed the exam successfully and got the Certificate MCP.

Projects

Yuriy Syerov does the active scientific and organization work to create a positive image of the Department for Social Communication and Information activity in the virtual networks [3][4]. He provides the virtual presentation of Lviv Polytechnic in the most popular social networks [5], which are used to inform systematically the Internet users about the university activity.
