Volodymyr Pavlysh - First Vice-rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ph.D., Professor, head of electronic information and computer technology department.

Biography

Volodymyr Pavlysh was born on June 24, 1951 in Maheriv Zhovkva district, Lviv region.

After graduation Radio Engineering department of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute in 1973 he stayed to work in a research laboratory where firstly worked as an engineer and then as a junior research assistant (1973–1978). In 1978 he went to postgraduate study at V.Ulyanov (Lenin) Electrotechnical Institute in Leningrad where was supervised by famous scientist B.M.Dendobrenko in 1982 he successfully defended his thesis "Modeling and process control of ion-plasma spraying."

After Ph.D.s. graduation, during 1982–1989, he worked as a junior researcher, senior lecturer, associate professor of the Department of Radio Design and Technology.

During 1989– 2007 he held a post of Vice Rector for Educational, Scientific and Pedagogical Work, and in 2007 he became the First Vice– Rector.

Scientific work

Volodymyr Pavlysh is an active participant of scientific and methodological conferences on multilevel education system and of many working groups which develop regulations on the activities of higher education institutions. With his participation there were developed: "Regulations on state higher education", "Regulations on the organization of the educational process in higher education", Concept of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "Licensing, certification and accreditation of educational institutions". He is a member of the working group of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine which prepares materials with the implementation of the Bologna process in higher education in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Pavlysh is also the member of the Advisory Board on Energy and Electronics State Accreditation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, member of the Scientific– methodical commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for electronic devices. He is an author of a number of regulations that govern the activities of the Lviv Polytechnic. Under his direct guidance there were developed and implemented in the educational process "Regulations on the system of knowledge assessment and determination of the students", "Regulations on admission to study for the qualification "Specialist","Master", "Regulations on providing paid educational services study of modules (disciplines) in excess of established curriculum and programs", "Regulations on the organization of students practice"and others. Volodymyr Pavlysh is the author of 125 scientific and educational works, including 14 educational and methodical development and four textbooks by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 6 patents on his inventions, copyright certificates.

He takes an active part in national and international scientific conferences. The main scientific problem which professor Pavlysh solves is to develop mathematical models and research applications of new tools for communication technologies based on modulated nanoscale structures. 4 PhD theses have been defended under his supervision.

For high labor achievements he was awarded with the Sign of Ministry of Education of Ukraine "Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine" (1994), Sign of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine "For Scientific Achievements" (2007), Distinction of Ministry of Defence of Ukraine "Badge of Honor" (2007) , Diplomas of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Lviv Regional State Administration.
