Scientific activity
Prof. S. Voronov developed a new class of polyreactive polymers based on peroxide and functional monomers that became known as "heterofunctional polyperoxides" ("Synthesis, properties and application of heterofunctional polyperoxides", D.Sc. thesis, 1984). The presence in such polymer structure of peroxide groups capable of homolytic reactions as well as of polar functional groups capable of chemical or adsorption interaction opened up entirely new opportunities and prospects for the modification and design of composite materials. Prof. S. Voronov was a scientific adviser of 8 D.Sc. theses (V. Shybanov, S. Minko, V. Tokarev, O. Hevus, O. Budishevska, V. Samaryk, S. Varvarenko, A. Kohut) and scientific supervisor of 22 PhD theses. His scientific heritage – over 700 publications. He received more than 100 patents of Ukraine and certificates for inventions. He is a co-author of four monographs including monograph "Peroxide-containing macromolecules at the phase boundary" (2011) and three monographs published abroad; textbooks approved by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine – "Organic chemistry" (Editions of 2001, 2002, 2006, 2009), "Toxicological chemistry of food and cosmetics" (2010), "Toxicology of food" (2014), "Chemistry" (2014) as well as an "Organic chemistry" tutorial (2001, 2003). Performing researches with the use of heterofunctional polyperoxides allowed creating a new scientific direction – "Development of reactive systems for functionalization (including peroxidation) of interphase surfaces and formation of special polymer nanolayers on them and design of filled composites and biocompatible biodegradable polymer materials".
