Komova Mariia Vasylivna (*January 15, 1957) is a Ukrainian scientist, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Deputy Head and Associate Professor at the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Biography

Mariia Komova was born on January 15, 1957.

Education

In 1978 – graduated from Kyiv State Institute of Culture.

Professional Activities

August 1978 - December 1980 - Chief Librarian of Lviv State Regional Universal Scientific Library

December 1980 - October 1986 - Head of the subscription department of the library of the trade union of the Production Association "Kineskop"

October 1986 - September 1999 - Head of the Scientific and Methodological Department of the Scientific and Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University

September 1999 - September 2002 - Deputy Head of the Scientific and Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University

September 2002 - July 2003 - Senior Lecturer of the Department of History of Ukraine, Science and Technology of Lviv Polytechnic National University

July 2003 - July 2011 - Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine, Science and Technology (History, Theory and Practice of Culture) of Lviv Polytechnic National University

Since August 2011 – Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Social Communications and Information Activities [1].

Scientific activities

In 1996 – received a grant from International Renaissance Foundation. With the assistance of the Foundation published "Russian-Ukrainian dictionary of bibliographic terms" on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Lviv Polytechnic National University establishment.

In 1999 – defended the Candidate thesis on "The formation and development of Ukrainian bibliographic terminology" and got her Candidate of Science degree in Philology.

In 2005 – was awarded the academic status of Associate Professor.

Research areas:

  • issues of Ukrainian scientific and technical terminology;
  • documents operation in social communications system (Documentation Science, Records Management (Paperwork), Journalism).

Scientific publications

Mariia Komova is an author over 100 scientific publications in Social Communications Theory, Documentation Science, Ukrainian Scientific Terminology, including 16 books (4 monographs, 5 training manuals, 2 terminological dictionaries, 3 bibliographical guides).

Mariia Komova won the competition among the authors of monographs, textbooks and training manuals in the category "The Best Monograph" and was awarded with the Second Degree Diploma of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Qualification skills

  • 2007 - awarded the diploma of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
  • 10.15.2009 - on the occasion of the 165th anniversary of the creation of the Lviv Polytechnic National University was awarded a diploma of Lviv Polytechnic for significant achievements in educational and scientific work.
  • Since 2009, she has been serving as the Deputy Director of the Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House on information technologies. She manages the Center for Applied Information Technologies of the Publishing House and coordinates the work of engineering staff in the production of education documents, student tickets, digital and large-format printing, the creation of electronic archives of publications and the promotion of information resources of the Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House.
  • 07.12.2016 - awarded with a certificate of the Lviv Regional Council for many years of diligent work, a significant personal contribution to the development of domestic education and science, training of highly skilled personnel and on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
