Institute of Entrepreneurship and Advanced Technology is a teaching and research subdivision of Lviv Polytechnic National University formed due to decree №83-10 in 28.05.2010.

General information

Institute has subordinate branches of Lviv Polytechnic National University in Drohobych (82100, Drohobych, Sichovykh Striltziv str., 2) and in Stryj (82400, Stryj, Sichovykh Striltziv str., 12в).

The Institute consists of seven departments. Research and teaching staff of the departments (2 doctors of sciences, 61 candidates of sciences, 53 senior teachers and 30 teachers) provides teaching at high professional level.

Professional training, retraining and advanced training of scientific and pedagogical staff of departments is implemented due to lecturers’ participation in the research work, postgraduate studies, training at the leading universities and research institutions of Ukraine, as well as through participation in work of methodical and scientific seminars and conferences.

Each department is equipped with computer lab and teaching and methodological office, which, in particular, are used as rooms for the course and diploma projects.

Seven specialized laboratories function in the Institute:

• Software tools;
• Computer science and programming;
• Computer electronics and microprocessor systems
• Database systems and knowledge;
• Distributed systems and networks;
• Artificial Intelligence;
• CISCO.

Besides that, commonly institute computer labs and computerized laboratory equipped with modern PCs are used in the learning process. Learning process is provided with a full package of modern software.

The Institute has more than 200 computers. For the needs of the educational process and scientific work of students and lecturers of the departments laboratories of the Institute are connected to the Internet.

The main sources of information support for lecturers and students of the Institute are its own scientific and technical library and electronic media. Work of the library focuses on timely and complete information support of the teaching and educational process. For this aim, information days for teachers and students are held systematically (monthly), book exhibitions and presentations are organized, library references and consultations are provided. The Institute library mainly provides educational and research process for teachers and students.

Book fund of the institutional library comprises more than 25 thousand books, a significant part of which are textbooks and manuals issued by the Institute. Science and technology library except the book fund has the methodological developments for diploma projects, term papers and tests, practical and laboratory studies and independent work of students developed by lecturers of the Institute and published by its own publishing department. All of them are concentrated mainly in the reading room. All major textbooks and educational accessories available in the library are published in Ukrainian.

Learning of the students of the Institute is conducted at two faculties (Economics and Information Technology, options of correspondence learning and distance learning are also available). Nowadays, 2,000 students are getting higher education in the Institute.

Institute branches

Branch in Stryi

Branch of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Advanced Technologies of Lviv Polytechnic National University in Stryi was established in 1999 to provide the region with skilled professional economists who would contribute to its development and growth. The existence of branch enabled the graduates of secondary schools, lycée, gymnasiums, colleges of Stryi and Striyskyi, Zhydachivskyi, Skole districts to learn without going far from home, thus avoiding the solution of many problems related to housing, lack of free time for recreation, self-development and so on.

The head of the branch - Victor Mandzyak., PhD in history., assistant professor of Humanitarian Training Department. Students of Stryi branch have an opportunity to study in spacious lecture halls and specialized classroom for learning English; there are two computer labs with modern hardware and software, free Internet access, Wi-fi.

Lectures, practical and laboratory lessons are conducted at high scientific and methodological level by the leading scientists of Lviv Polytechnic using modern interactive techniques, masterclasses, round tables etc. To maintain the educational process, practitioners from leading companies in the region are involved. Students can use the library with relevant teaching and methodological materials on paper and electronic mediums, annually updated periodical professional publications; reading room works constantly. Preparatory course for the detailed study of the subjects for pupils of graduating classes of secondary schools functions on the base of the branch. Studies are conducted by highly qualified lecturers of the institute.

Students of the branch, as all students of the Institute have the opportunity and are actively involved in research work. The result of this work is an independent research with the elements of scientific innovation. Students’ scientific works have been repeatedly distinguished at conferences, competitions; they were published in scientific books and journals.

Graduate students undergo pre-diploma practice at enterprises and institutions of Stryi: “LEONI”, “Ekran”, “Ukrtelecom”, “Ukrpol”, “Styl”, “Pryvatbank”, JSCB “Forum” etc. Graduates of the branch are competitive in the labor market and, after graduation, receive prestigious job offers not only in Stryi and Stryiskyi district but also in other cities of Ukraine.

Branch in Drohobych

Institute of Enterpreneurship and Advanced Technologies (IEAT) of Lviv Polytechnic National University in 1999 opened a structural unit in the Drohobych, Lviv region, as a response to the challenge of time due to the need for qualified economists in the Drohobych region. The Institute is located in a comfortable Drogobych downtown.

The first branch was headed by PhD, assistant professor of marketing Vasyl Shutenko. Since February 2006, the branch of the Institute in the Drohobych, has been headed by PhD in Philology, associate professor of Humanitarian Training Department Larysa Karlova.

The strategic goal of the institute is the educational service of Drogobych region, aid in solving important problems of consistent population exposure to promising educational services at different levels. The staff of the branch of the Institute identified as priorities:

• creation of mobile and efficient mechanism to ensure the implementation of accounting and realization of educational needs of professional economists, which are adequate for social order and requirements of the state educational standards;
• implementation of the long-term comprehensive program of research work on problems of general and professional education and lecturers training, according to the Bologna process;
• ensuring of the adaptation of the new socio-economic conditions and education reform;
• development and implementation of measures of address, personalized social support of teachers, employees and students;
• resolving of issues of preservation and expansion of the material resources of the Institute, further development of informatization of the educational process;
• quality training of specialists in unity with the formation of students' patriotic citizenship, creating optimum conditions for the realization of their talents and abilities.

Young people today face a choice: which way to go, what profession to choose. And the one who decides to become an economist, doesn’t make a mistake. Quality training of specialists in finance, accounting and auditing, marketing and international economics can get it in the IEAT. Among the advantages of studying in Drohobych branch of the IEAT of Lviv Polytechnic is comfortable location and route connections with Truskavets, Stebnyk, Boryslav and all surrounding villages. The students have 14 comfortable lecture rooms; 2 computer laboratories equipped with modern appliances, audio and video equipment, personal computers with the latest software, multimedia echnology; scientific and methodological library with thousands copies of professional literature.

In Drohobych branch of the Institute students are involved in various modern treaching events: the Day of Knowledge, Freshmen Debut, Day of Open Doors, Decades of Science, round tables, master classes, meetings with the luminaries of science and professional practice, Miss IEAT, Ukrainian evenings, entertaining evening games “Love at First Word”, “I — personality”, youth council “Leadership School”, festival of CEC and physical culture, sport, healthy lifestyle, shaping club, students mini-football contests.

Our graduates are among the best experts in the region (employees of banks, insurance and travel companies, both public and private enterprises), they work abroad and work as private entrepreneurs: Ihor Kardash, SnizhanaYaroma, Vasyl Kost, Iryna Kvyk, Oksana Holovko, Olha Kopcha, Olexander Hubin, Andriy Mazur, Vitaliy Voitko, Halina Jakubovska, Andriy Komarnyckyi, Natalia Ryabinina-Rom, Natalia Lebischak, Roxolana Soviak, Ivan Slavitych Oleg Kulynych and others.

Majors and Specialties of the Institute

The Institute provides training on the basis of full-time attendance and distance learning for such academic levels:

• junior specialist (specialties: Accounting, Maintenance of Software Systems and Software Suits, Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals, Finance and Credit and Commercial Activity);
• bachelor (majors: Finance and Credit, International Economics, Accounting and Audit, Marketing and Computer Science);
• specialist (specialties: International Economics, Finance and Credit, Accounting and Audit, Marketing,Computerized Ecological and Economical Monitoring);
• master's degree (Computerized Ecological and Economical Monitoring).

Overview of Accounting and Audit degree programme

In this field of training, students receive the bachelor's academic level and the qualification of Bachelor in Accounting and Auditing. The duration of training in the Accounting and Audit major is 4 years (on the basis of complete secondary education) and 2-3 years (on the basis of junior specialist training program).

Bachelors of Accounting and Audit are able to continue their studying in the specialist training program in Accounting and Audit graduate program. Graduates of Accounting and Audit can work as heads of enterprises, chief accountants, financial directors, accountants, managers of different management levels, auditors, lecturers of general educational institutions, research scientists, or be engaged in educational work.

Graduates of Accounting and Audit are prepared for work in industrial enterprises, financial institutions, insurance companies, taxation bodies, budget authorities, state bodies, common ventures and trade companies.

Overview of International Economics degree programme

In this field of training, students receive the bachelor's academic level and the qualification of Bachelor in International Economics. The duration of training in the International Economics major is 4 years (on the basis of complete secondary education) and 2-3 years (on the basis of junior specialist training program).

Bachelors of International Economics are able to continue their studying in the Specialist training program in International Economics major.

Graduates of international economics can work in banks as specialists, managers of departments, directors of organizations and enterprises engaged in international business activity; in enterprises in departments of international business activity, marketing, planning and financial departments; in investment funds, companies, specialized financial institutions which represent interests of foreign investors; in foreign missions; counselors in international organizations, embassies, public agencies; be engaged in educational work.

Overview of Finance and Credit degree programme

In this field of training, students receive the Bachelor's academic level and the qualification of Bachelor in Finance and Credit. The duration of training in the Finance and Credit major is 4 years (on the basis of complete secondary education) and 2-3 years (on the basis of junior specialist training program).

Bachelors of Finance and Credit are able to continue their studying in the specialist training program in Finance and Credit major. Finance professionals are able to perform work in such fields as financial activity of enterprises; tax liability of enterprises; financial market dealing; banking industry; currency exchange regulation; insurance services; financial management; organization of information systems.

Finance professional can hold managerial positions in financial departments, economic and planning departments, international business activity departments, marketing departments of companies; commercial organizations; joint-stock companies; investment companies; commercial banks; tax agencies; insurance companies; become a lecturers of general educational institutions; be engaged in educational work.

Overview of Marketing degree programme

In this field of training, students receive the Bachelor's academic level and the qualification of Bachelor in Marketing. The duration of training in the Marketing major is 4 years (on the basis of complete secondary education) and 2-3 years (on the basis of junior specialist training program).

Bachelors of Marketing are able to continue their studying in the specialist training program in Marketing major.

Specialists in marketing are able to work as both enterprise managers (deputy marketing directors, commercial directors, heads of services or marketing and logistics departments) and marketing economic forecasters; experts in marketing research, commercial, distribution and manufacturing logisticians, experts in the field of wholesale and retail trade, image makers, advertising specialists, promoters, merchandisers, marketing advisors, experts in international business activity, experts in standardization and certification, engineers of business administration of manufacturing, become a lecturers of general educational institutions; be engaged in educational work etc.

Experts in marketing are prepared for work in organizations and industrial enterprises, in the sphere of small business, in the service sector and specifically tourism, banking, financial, advisory, medical, forwarding, advertising and research services, work in foreign companies, state bodies, non-governmental organizations and associations, in customs.

Overview of Computer Science degree programme

In this field of training, students receive the bachelor's academic level and the qualification of Bachelor in Computer Science. The duration of training in the Computer Science major is 4 years (on the basis of complete secondary education) and 2-3 years (on the basis of junior specialist training program).

Bachelors in Computer Science are able to continue their studying in the Specialist or Master training programs.

The graduates are competent in such areas of expertise as principles of construction and architecture of automated systems; methods of construction and analysis of typical models of data and knowledge bases, complex objects and systems; methods of production of system and applied support for multipurpose automated systems; high-level programming languages (JAVA, DELРНI, C++); typical computer systems (Microsoft Office, Paradox, Adobe Page Maker, PhotoShop, Corel Draw); methods of analysis and construction of standard information processing models in business, management and entrepreneurship; methods of software development for financial and banking systems; software for management and marketing tasks; creation of multimedia systems.

A specialist in computer science is able to perform such work as designing and exploitation of integrated automatic systems of information management and processing; administration of local network systems of governmental bodies, commercial and banking structures and regular monitoring and audit of network resources; control of information integrity and preservation in databases and providing of protection of information in databases; information resources management and maintenance of telecommunication systems; installation and maintenance of system and application software; advanced planning, forecasting. Organization and management of design works in the sphere of management and information technologies; implementation and development of new computer and information technologies.

The Institute has a far-flung network of partnership links with regional regulatory agencies, state and commercial banks, investment companies and funds, large manufacturing outfits, branches and subsidiaries of transnational corporations, joint ventures etc. It allows us to actively use up-to-date statistics, conduct a full value student practical training and pre-degree practice, as well as onsite training of lecturers. Successful practical activities of Institute graduates in enterprises, institutions and organizations confirm their skills to implement gained knowledge on mega- , macro- , and microeconomic levels.

Primary places of employment of our graduates are big Ukrainian banks (Ukrsotsbank, Prybvatbank, Rayffayzen bank Aval, Forum and other); investment funds and companies (domestic and branches of foreign companies), structural units of transnational corporations (Leoni, Vebasto-Elektron etc.) bodies of state regulation (State Tax Administration, regional and district administrations); firms of computer and information technologies sphere (Softserv, Eleks etc.).

Moreover, some graduates work in institutions, which are engaged in implementation of projects of international organizations in Ukraine. High competitiveness of Institute graduates on the labor market allows many students to solve employment issues individually.

Many graduates in the short term have made successful careers and become representatives of young economic and computer elite of Ukraine.
