Institute of Postgraduate Studies is an educational and structural unit of Lviv Polytechnic National University, which provides training for bachelors, specialists, masters; retrains specialists, who receive the second higher education; provides development program for professionals in all fields of study, which are licensed in Lviv Polytechnic National University.

General information

The structure of Lviv Polytechnic University’s Institute of Postgraduate Education includes:

• Directorate (room 10, IV building);
• Deanery of Short Term Basic Higher Education, which organizes the study process of bachelors’ training in short terms (room 105, I building);
• Deanery of Complete Higher Education, which organizes masters’ training for specific categories and specialists (room 104, I building);
• Deanery of Postgraduate Education, which provides retraining of specialists and development programs for professionals (room 103, I building and room 1, IV building);
• Department of Technology Management (room 2, V building);
• Department of Administrative and Financial Management (room 2a, V building);
• Department of Informational and Technical Support of the study process (room 14, IV building);
• Department of Financial Calculations (room 2, IV building).

Departments are headed by professors, and there are seven Ph.Ds among the teaching staff. The academic council of the institute and the scientific advisory board are created in the IPE.

The institute has its own material and technical basis – auditoriums in I, IV and V teaching buildings and student residence hall №8 are equipped with technical facilities — in total 18 auditoriums and laboratories for 878 places, among them specialized multimedia auditorium; 3 computer rooms for 42 work places, which are equipped with modern computers with the Internet connection; Interdepartmental methodical room; a linguistic-educational center; a linguaphone room with a computerized system; copying center for publishing teaching materials.

History of the Institute

Educational and scientific Institute of Postgraduate Studies was founded in 1998 on the basis of Interdisciplinary Institute for Continuing Education and retraining of managers and specialists of the domestic economy, which was founded in 1991.

During almost 20 years, the Institute has taken an important place in the system of higher education as one of the leading centers, which provide continuous education for citizens and implements the program “Lifelong Education”.

Geography of students studying in the Institute encompasses Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Rivne, Ternopil, Volyn, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Chernygiv, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and AR of Crimea.

Institute offers

Institute conducts:

• Training for students with EQL Bachelor, Specialist and Master;
• Retraining of specialists ( 2nd higher education);
• Developing programs for professionals.

Training, retraining and developing programs for professionals exist for all fields of study licensed in Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Lecturers from the basic institutes and departments of the University deliver training using all available educational and scientific equipment of Lviv Polytechnic.

Training process for all educational qualification levels and retraining of specialists are fully provided by the departments of Lviv Polytechnic National University as basic elements of the University, which are responsible for training. Leading lecturers of Lviv Polytechnic — professors, associate professors, senior lecturers, assistants of relevant university departments and highly qualified professionals of scientific institutions, enterprises, banks and firms in Lviv and Western Region — are involved into the study process. Methodological commissions of the standard fields of study participate in the creation of curricula, content of which corresponds to curricula of full-time education with a focus on independent work of students and trainees. Teaching and laboratory facilities of departments and educational and informational equipment of the University are used in the educational process. Students and trainees of IPE can use the educational library of the University and have access to the Virtual Learning Environment.

Cooperation

Institute of Postgraduate Education is a participant of the government program of maintaining the competitiveness of individuals in the labor market through their retraining, specialization, development programs for professions and specializations of priority economic activities through vouchers issued by the State Employment Service. Retraining of specialists through vouchers has already begun and will be implemented in 6 specialties, which are included into the list approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 20 March 2013№ 207.

The Institute participates in international projects. Within the EDUKT project of the Tacis program, more than 2500 former officers and members of their families have been retrained and gotten advice on opening their own business and creating new business structures. Within the INCO-Copernicus program the work on “Regenerate” project was finished, by which alternative energy sources in Eastern Europe would be used and developed.

Institute of Postgraduate Education participates in the organization of national and international conferences, seminars, exhibitions and presentations.
