Since 2005 the department is headed by Koryahin V.N., professor, doctor of education, doctor of physical education and sport, honored coach of Ukraine. According to requirements of the time the Department provides:
- learning process of physical education;
- scientific and methodical;
- sports;
- physical culture and massive;
- health;
- educational work.
The department initiated the introduction in life of the complex TRP, the state tests of Ukraine; develop methods of classes and specialized classes for students of special medical groups. Directions of the Department:
- National traditions of physical culture and sports in the western regions of Ukraine.
- Education of students according to humanism ideals of the Olympic movement.
- Educational and methodical foundations training of athletes in conditions of higher education.
