Wikimedia Ukraine Community Association

Wikimedia Ukraine Community Association is a regional chapter of Wikimedia Foundation in Ukraine – a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encourage the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content, and to provide the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. The Wikimedia Foundation operates some of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, a top-ten internet property. "Wikimedia Ukraine" was established under Ukrainian law as a community organization with nonprofit status.

Shevchenko Scientific Society

The Shevchenko Scientific Society is a Ukrainian scientific society that was founded in 1873 in Lviv. It is the first public institution in Ukrainian history, following Shevchenko’s idea of serving Ukraine, that appropriated his name (original name of the institution was “Shevchenko Society”). The Shevchenko Scientific Society is devoted to the promotion of scholarly research and publication.

Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House

Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House is a modern publishing and polygraphic structure. Annually taking place in The Lviv Publishers’ Forum since 1999. The role of books and reading in education process can’t be underestimated. Taking this fact into consideration, we are willing to create good-quality books both at the content level and the polygraphic one. We publish educational, scientific, reference, teaching and guiding literature. Also we are providing Lviv Polytechnic National University with textbooks, guidebooks, monographs, lecture notes, reference books, dictionaries etc. These books are known and read in different educational institutions of Ukraine. In particular, there is a great demand for the publications in technical and computer science, economics, construction engineering, architecture.

Scientific library of Lviv Polytechnic National University

Scientific library of Lviv Polytechnic National University is one of the biggest libraries among institutions of higher education of Ukraine. Library is a unit of the University serving as bibliographic, scientific, educational and cultural institution provides training process, academic activity, research, cultural, educational work with books and other data carriers that make up library holding. The library holding consists of 1 million 800 thousand books and magazines. The most part of it is scientific literature.

Department of Social Communications and Information Activities was established on August 23, 2011.

Training activity


Department of Social Communications and Information Activities trains specialists in the following fields:

Graduates with Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s degree are able to work in organizations with different types of ownership, public and local authorities and institutions of higher education. Achieved specialty allows graduates to hold the following positions: Graduates with Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s degree are able to work in organizations with different types of ownership, public and local authorities and institutions of higher education.   • Administrative manager, Deputy manager of data analysis;
  • Chief human resources officer (CHRO);
  • Document coordinator;
  • Data and database analyst;
  • Information specialist, Chief information officer (CIO);
  • Staff assistant;
  • Record services and archives manager;
  • Social communications specialist;
  • Content manager, Website maintenance specialist;
  • Competitive (business) intelligence specialist;
  • Information systems administrator (system administrator);
  • Online community administrator and moderator.

Graduates of the Department with Master’s degree are able to work in public and local authorities, run organizations with different types of ownership and business entity: educational institutions, research establishments etc.
